Communication Made Easy
Do you struggle with public relations? Do you feel that there is no plan in place to communicate your organization's message to the public? If so, you are not alone. You can get so bogged down with the daily duties of managing a ministry that communicating the ministry's message to the public falls to the wayside. Often we do not prioritize public relations planning if speaking or social interaction doesn't come easy to us as well.
A Public Relations Communication Plan is essential just as a Development Plan or a Strategic Plan is essential to the success of an organization. It requires taking the time to analyze key areas of your ministry's methods of communicating what we often call the "story" of the organization. If we can't or don't communicate the story of our ministry we won't raise needed funds, acquire partnerships or inspire the public to join our cause.
I recently heard the question asked, "What makes you weep and pound your fist and say you can stand it no more?" The passion that lies within you is brought to the surface when you are inspired to serve a cause that you feel you can make a positive impact in. We have to be the conduit to the public that carries our message forth with a passion and a resolve that is immovable in the cause to which we are called. This commitment and excitement inspires the audiences that you speak to. If an audience views that you are in full support of the mission then they will help the vision to be fulfilled in the community.
Take the time to sit down with your team and your board and evaluate your communication methods. What methods are working and inspiring the public to join you and what methods are not working? It's also a necessity to evaluate communication methods utilized with the clients and population your ministry serves. If an organization can plan together, its team can succeed together in communicating the mission and vision that makes the community a better place!
